Last weekend, De, the hounds and I went for a hike on a little hidden gem of a trail in Russ Park. Just finding the gated entrance to the park was a challenge as it was hidden up on a hill side out of view from the main road.
It was so overgrown that we had a little trouble opening the gate. The above picture was taken from inside the gate looking back at the road. Once inside we started our hike and immediately we went up!
The view at the top was a breath taking vista of the road we just left.
Looking down from on high we saw a little path. I wondered where it went as it wasn’t part of the trail system.
After hiking for about an hour on the trail with a lot of ups and downs, we came to a picturesque little pond in the middle of the park. Moments later, we heard a loud splash…
We rounded the pond to see our dog, Emmett emerging from the water. He thought the surface was solid and jumped down to investigate. See the hole he left?
Here he is with his pal, Yalla searching for a drink.
Finally, We were introduced to a local wild berry that I had never seen or tasted before. It’s called a salmonberry. Very tasty, a little tart and very plentiful. There were thousands of them along the trail. We plan to head back soon and gather some for a salmonberry pie.
Emmett, ready to go on the next adventure. Until next time. Enjoy!
Nice pics.
